Program Description:

A combination of business skills and financial knowledge is an important pre-requisite to a fast-track career in either finance or management. The modern accounting and finance professional is part of a management team and needs more than technical skills to fulfill this role. MSc in Accounting and Finance is a professional degree program designed to provide advanced, specialized training in accounting and finance. It is the result of intensive discussions with scholars, prospective employers and the professionals. This unique program is suitable for those wishing to enhance their prospects to rise in their careers in financial reporting, taxation, management accounting, corporate law, corporate finance, investment and risk management and managerial interpersonal & negotiation skills. One of the very significant features of this program is extensive purpose based and regularly monitored internship, which gives students an in-depth knowledge about the real time application of theoretical concepts along with immense exposure of Business Environment and practices.

 

Program Objectives:

The core objective of this two year degree program is

  • to provide advanced and specialized training in Accounting and Finance
  • to polish theoretical understanding and key skills with essential accounting and finance capabilities, including critical analysis, research and advanced numeracy to understand the critical factors behind the success and failure of different organizations.
  • to develop practical skills, such as the ability to evaluate financial statements, estimate fair values and compare different investments.
  • to create analytical and decision-making skills in an increasingly complex global environment.
  • To develop a strong foundation in accounting and finance;
  • Generates capability to concentrate in the major field of interest;
  • Develops innovative skills to handle independent projects;
  • Widens intellectual horizon to pursue further in the area of specialization.
  • Detailed preparation and training for ACCA qualification.
  • The syllabus is intended to progressively widen and deepen the knowledge, skills and professional values ACCA syllabus. ACCA has granted exemption of 4 papers (F-1 to F-4) and the syllabus mainly covers the major area of ACCA at the knowledge module level and skills module level and also wraps two papers of professional level. More specifically syllabus completely covers 9 of ACCA out of 14 papers.
  • Detailed preparation and training for CFA Level I qualification.
  • The syllabus is designed to progressively broaden and deepen the knowledge, skills and professional values as per the requirement of CFA Level I. The syllabus completely covers all modules of CFA Level I.
  • Comprehensively covers 11 papers out of 20 papers for CA program.
  • Comprehensive preparation of 13 papers out of 21 papers for CMA program.
  • Complete coverage of PIPFA program.

Accounting & Finance professionals can pursue different higher degree as MBA, CA, ACCA, CIMA, ACMA, CFA, MPhil Economics, and MPhil in Management Sciences after completing graduation.

Admissions Eligibility Criteria:

The University welcomes applications from students who have successfully completed their 14 years of education. The more specific criteria follow:-

  • Graduation either in Commerce or Business administration
  • BSc / BA  either in Math, Stat or Economics
  • Any other grade 14 degree approved by the HEC.
  • Merit will be determined according to the following formula:

Intermediate 20%, Bachelor Degree 40%, Test 25 %, Interview 15 %

However, GIFT Graduates with Associate Degree of Accounting & Finance can take few other suggested courses instead of basic courses of the regular track for the completion of their MSc AF degree. Students with professional qualification or those with 16 years of education in relevant area are also eligible to claim exemptions.

The Admission Office at GIFT University deals with the enquiries concerning admissions. The prospective candidates are advised to consult this office during working hours of the University.

 

General Criteria to Apply

  • The candidate fulfills the eligibility conditions of the program.
  • The candidate must have earned the eligibility qualification from a recognized educational institution.
  • Good proficiency in English language.
  • The candidate has not been debarred on disciplinary grounds during his earlier educational career.
 

Admission Application

  • Applications for admissions are invited through advertisement in the media. The prospective candidates are advised to obtain the University Prospectus, Application Form and Admission Schedule from the Admissions Office. They may make queries to the officer on duty for further information.
  • Admission Application should be submitted together with all required documents within the prescribed time limit in the Student Affairs Centre Admissions Office.
  • Online Applicants can apply just by filling the required fields of Online Application Form. Their documents will be verified at the day of admissions test and interview.
  • After admission test and interview, the Admission Committee will advise the successful candidates to deposit fee and other dues in the Accounts Office within the specified time limit.
  • On payment of fee and dues, the Accounts Office will issue the Registration Number to the candidate. at least two days prior to the commencement of the semester.
