Program Description:

Economics, as a discipline, deals as a central point of understanding in a broad spectrum. This subject helps in exploration of all aspects related to resource management in different areas for example: consumer behavior, business enterprises, markets, government policies for growth and development, trade and international issues, globalization, health, development, and the environment. The BS degree in Business Economics is a challenging degree program, emphasizes the study of quantitative techniques along with economics. The course of study requires a more intensive background in math and statistics, reflecting the quantitative character of modern economics and business world. This program provides preparation for employment in technical and scientific areas like planning, decision making and banking.

The curriculum of BS Business Economics allows students to take electives that focus on various aspects of economics, such as growth, finance and monetary economics. Study areas available include microeconomics, macroeconomics, mathematical economics, econometrics, development economics, growth economics; financial markets; international markets & trade, along with the core subjects of the business management.

 

Program Objectives:

Aim of this four year degree program of Business Economics is:

  • To equip graduates with enough knowledge and skill for the entry in a diverse field of jobs in government, banking, insurance or other financial sectors, private sector businesses or even open their own businesses.
  • To enable the students to pursue their employment positions in actuarial science or more analytical fields through providing them a strong base of quantitative courses.
  • To enable the students to become analysts, advisors and economists in the public and private sectors.

Minimum Eligibility Criteria

The University welcomes applications from candidates who have successfully completed up to Grade 12 schooling. The most eligible qualifications and specific criteria for admissions are as follows:

  • Intermediate with Arts or General Science or Commerce.
  • Advanced Levels (A’ Levels).
  • Minimum 45% or equivalent marks in intermediate or equivalent qualification.
  • Any other equivalent grade 12 degree approved by the Ministry of Education.
  • GIFT Comprehensive Admission Test (GCAT) or relevant level NTS test may also be applicable for admissions.
  • The candidates having 14 years graduation in economics and securing minimum 45% marks (in annual system) or CGPA of 2.0/4.0 (in semester system) or equivalent may be admitted in 5th semester of the program and may avail two years exemption on the basis of their economics degree. However, graduates (14 years) with non-economics degree may also be bridged and admitted into program on case to case basis and may be granted exemptions based on their previous knowledge as per exemption policy.

Enquiries

The Admission Office at GIFT University deals with the enquiries concerning admissions. The prospective candidates are advised to consult this office during working hours of the University.

 

General Criteria to Apply

  • Relevant level NTS test is also acceptable for admissions
  • The candidate fulfills the eligibility conditions of the program.
  • The candidate must have earned the eligibility qualification from a recognized educational institution.
  • Good proficiency in English language.
  • The candidate has not been debarred on disciplinary grounds during his earlier educational career.

Admission Application

  • Applications for admissions are invited through advertisement in the media. The prospective candidates are advised to obtain the University Prospectus, Application Form and Admission Schedule from the Admissions Office. They may make queries to the officer on duty for further information.
  • Admission Application should be submitted together with all required documents within the prescribed time limit in the Student Affairs Centre Admissions Office.
  • Online Applicants can apply just by filling the required fields of Online Application Form. Their documents will be verified at the day of admissions test and interview.
  • After admission test and interview, the Admission Committee will advise the successful candidates to deposit fee and other dues in the Accounts Office within the specified time limit.
  • On payment of fee and dues, the Accounts Office will issue the Registration Number to the candidate. at least two days prior to the commencement of the semester.
