Associate Degree Computer Science (ADCS)

Career Prospects:

This program has been designed to prepare the students to earn a position in information technology. The main focus of this program is to prepare students as programmers for organizations involved in software development. However, after successfully fulfilling the degree requirement, the graduates could also work as database administrators, network and system administrators, or work as software test engineers in a software house as well as in the government or any other organization with in-house MIS departments. A number of graduates are also self-employed and are developing software and providing services to global clients as free lancers.

Program Description:

The main focus of this program is to produce people who can start work in the software industry right after completing this degree without the need of extensive training. The program follows a practical approach towards software development and related tasks. Thus the curriculum is oriented towards the practical industrial applications and practices. Another salient feature of this program is that it is also designed to prepare students for internationally recognized professional certification exams, such as Network/System/Database Administration. Graduates of this program can also transfer into the 4-year BS program and then can continue for higher studies.

Program Objectives:

Software industry is one of the most lucrative and fastest expanding business sector. There is an acute shortage of properly trained and qualified personnel who can assume the role of software quality assurance engineers, database and system administrators. Currently the need is fulfilled by hiring people with diplomas or certificates, then providing on-job training for these tasks. This program is designed to produce these resources as well as programmers at the entry level. The curriculum of this program is designed in a close consultancy with the relevant industry, target market, and community in general.
